A Professor of Spanish and African Studies at the Pennsylvania University, Yaw Agawu-Kakraba is an author, scholar, and educator. Born in Ghana, he received his BA in Spanish and Linguistics from the University of Ghana, an MA in Spanish from University of Alberta, Canada, and a PhD in Hispanic Studies from Cornell University. He has resided in the United States since 1988. His fiction includes The Restless Crucible and two forthcoming titles, The Executioner’s Stepdaughter, and Queens of the Goldmines. His many research interests and publications include 20th/21st Century Spanish fiction and culture, Latin American literature, Afro-Hispanic literature and cultures, and African literature. His academic publications include Postmodernity in Spanish Fiction and Culture, Demythification in the Fiction of Miguel Delibes. Co-editor of Diasporic Identities with Afro-Hispanic and African Contexts and African, Lusophone, and Afro-Hispanic Cultural Dialogue, his essays have appeared in major academic journals around the globe.
